Electrical Design Consultation

DNC helps define the electrical and control requirements for new installations, plant expansions and system upgrades. Our engineering scope can include:

Panel Construction and Project Compliance

DNC provides electrical and control panels tailored to the installation environment, operating requirements and specified project standards. Our capabilities include:

• Panel segregation up to Form 4b, with internal separation arrangements selected to suit the specified assembly requirements.
• Enclosure protection up to IP66, with NEMA enclosure types selected according to the installation environment and project specifications.
• CE conformity and UL compliance support, with applicable requirements, documentation, testing and certification arrangements defined for each project.
• Customised panel configurations, approved components and specified motor starting arrangements.
• Engineering submissions, panel inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing to the agreed scope.

We coordinate compliance requirements with the EPC contractor from the design stage, establishing a clear basis for panel construction, verification and handover.

PLC and HMI Programming

We develop PLC programs and HMI interfaces around your approved control philosophy and operating sequences. Programming can include:

• Automatic and manual operating modes, pump sequencing and duty/standby changeover.
• Equipment permissives, interlocks, fault handling and alarm management.
• Tank level, flow, pressure and chemical dosing control.
• Filtration backwash and membrane system operating sequences.
• Process displays, operating setpoints and equipment status.

Our HMI designs provide operators with clear process views and the information needed to operate equipment and identify faults.

Industrial Networking and System Integration

DNC connects PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, drives, instruments and packaged equipment through industrial communication networks. Our scope can include network architecture, industrial Ethernet configuration, interfaces with supervisory systems, network diagnostics and communication testing.

Industrial Control System Cybersecurity

DNC supports cybersecurity for PLC, HMI, SCADA, Industrial IoT and industrial network environments. We work with the EPC contractor and plant owner to define protection measures around operational needs, maintenance arrangements and owner-defined cybersecurity policies.

Depending on the agreed scope and equipment capabilities, support can include network segmentation, industrial firewall configuration, user access permissions, secure remote access, device security configuration, software backups and recovery procedures. We can also support coordination of firmware updates, security patches, system changes and cybersecurity verification against agreed requirements.

SCADA and Industrial IoT Solutions

DNC develops SCADA and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions that give operators and management a coordinated view of water treatment equipment, process conditions and operating performance. Systems are configured to suit the plant architecture, available instrumentation and project requirements.

SCADA Development and Plant Monitoring

We integrate PLCs and treatment packages into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for centralised operation and monitoring. Our scope can include:

• Process mimic screens showing pumps, valves, tanks and treatment stages.
• Authorised supervisory commands and setpoint adjustment through the PLC control system.
• Alarm management, event logging and operator acknowledgement.
• Real-time and historical trends for flow, pressure, level, conductivity, pH and other available measurements.

Industrial IoT and Remote Visibility

DNC can connect approved plant data to on-premises or cloud platforms through industrial gateways and agreed communication interfaces. IIoT functions can include:

• Remote dashboards for equipment status, process conditions and operating trends.
• Monitoring across multiple treatment packages or project sites.
• Water production, consumption and recovery indicators derived from available measurements.
• Energy monitoring where suitable meters and data are available.
• Equipment runtime and condition data to support maintenance planning.
• Notifications for selected alarms, abnormal conditions and communication failures.
• Data interfaces to reporting tools and enterprise systems within the agreed scope.

Secure Integration and Operational Continuity

SCADA and IIoT integration is developed around the plant owner’s IT and OT policies. Network segmentation, controlled access, secure remote connectivity and data permissions are defined with the project team. Local PLC control remains independent of cloud connectivity, with remote control enabled only where specifically required and authorised.

System architecture, software licensing, tag capacity, data retention, interfaces and any redundancy requirements are agreed during engineering. Testing verifies alarms, displayed values, communication status and data transfer before handover.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Applications

DNC offers electrical and automation support for the following treatment applications. Control functions are developed from the EPC contractor’s or technology provider’s approved process design, equipment specifications and operating philosophy.

Municipal and Potable Water Treatment

Control packages for raw water intake, clarification, filtration and disinfection, including chemical dosing, filter backwash, treated water storage and pumping.

Industrial Process and Utility Water

Automation for filtration, softening and process water supply systems serving manufacturing and utility operations. Scope can include pumps, valves, dosing equipment and process monitoring.

Membrane Filtration and Reverse Osmosis

Controls for ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) packages, covering feed and transfer pumps, valve sequences, pressure and flow monitoring, flushing, backwash and cleaning sequences as specified.

Demineralised and Deionised Water

Control systems for demineralisation and deionisation (DI) packages, including ion exchange regeneration, RO and electrodeionisation (EDI) interfaces, conductivity monitoring and water distribution.

Ultrapure and High Purity Water

Electrical and automation packages for ultrapure water (UPW) and high purity water systems used in semiconductor, electronics and other critical manufacturing applications, including purification, polishing, recirculation and quality monitoring interfaces.

Seawater and Brackish Water Desalination

Control packages for seawater and brackish water reverse osmosis systems, including pretreatment, high-pressure pumping, membrane operation, flushing and product water transfer.

Municipal Sewage and Industrial Effluent Treatment

Automation for sewage and industrial wastewater processes, including collection, screening, equalisation, chemical treatment, biological treatment, aeration, clarification and treated effluent transfer.

Water Recycling and Reuse

Control and monitoring for wastewater recovery, greywater recycling and reuse systems, coordinating treatment stages, storage, quality signals and distribution according to the approved process requirements.

Sludge Treatment and Dewatering

Motor and sequence control for sludge transfer, thickening, conditioning and dewatering equipment, including feed pumps, polymer dosing and interfaces with packaged treatment machinery.

Minimum and Zero Liquid Discharge

Electrical and automation support for minimum liquid discharge (MLD) and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) projects, including interfaces with membrane concentration, evaporation and brine treatment packages supplied by the process technology provider.

These applications can be delivered as skid-mounted or containerised control packages, or integrated into wider plant systems. The electrical and automation scope is tailored to each project.

Site Wiring and Installation

We provide electrical and control wiring between panels and field equipment within the agreed project scope. Services can include cable installation, glanding, termination, identification, instrument signal wiring and communication cabling.

Our team coordinates with the EPC contractor, equipment suppliers and site personnel to align installation activities with equipment readiness and project schedules.

Testing and Commissioning

DNC supports testing from panel assembly through plant start-up, working with the EPC contractor and process team to verify the agreed control functions. Our scope can include:

• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), panel wiring checks and I/O simulation.
• PLC sequence checks, HMI and SCADA function testing, and IoT data verification within the agreed scope.
• Site I/O verification, instrument loop checks and equipment interlock testing.
• Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning support.
• Operator familiarisation and agreed handover documentation.

Supporting EPC Project Delivery

DNC offers flexible packages covering panel supply, programming, site services or a combined electrical and automation scope. We work to agreed specifications, drawing formats and approval procedures, coordinating interfaces between treatment packages, field instruments and plant systems.

Agreed factory testing helps identify wiring and control issues before delivery. Handover deliverables can include approved drawings, test records, as-built documentation and software backups, as defined in the contract.
